Showcase Sunday (#7)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits & Tea.
Its an opportunity to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

This week I received:

Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black - I saw this on a couple of 'WoW''s over the past few weeks and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC! I was so happy... Isn't the cover beautiful, I literally awed in responce to receiving this book.

I also received from NetGalley:

The Gathering Darkness by Lisa Collicutt - This one I requested purely for the description of the book... I really liked it and I was very excited to receive.
Running in the Dark by Regan Summers - I think you can see a pattern in the books I receive, haha! This really appealed to me.

I also bought:

Promise by Kristie Cook - This book looked really good and the cover is beautiful and guess what... It was FREE!!!

Sorry guys, its not a big haul this week. I have just finished all my English texts and I have started to go through all my NetGalley requests, slowly but I'm enjoying them. I think the biggest showcase has to be Dance of Shadows... I was so excited!!!

So a BIG Thank you to Bloomsbury and NetGalley!

Did you receive Dance of Shadows? Have you read these? I would like to know what you thought!
Are you taking part? Leave me link, I would love to see what you received this week.

Happy Reading!

Feature & Follow (#6)

Yay! My favourite day of the week!
Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participating, and to expand their following. Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it's an interesting way to get to know one another.

Q: What is the BIGGEST word you’ve seen used in a book lately – that made you stop and look it up? Might as well leave the definition & book too.

A: Now this is a really hard question and one, that to be honest, I really I don't have an answer too... But I'll give it a go...

I have two books and or series that I can put on here; One of my books for English Literature was Frankenstein and you can imagine how difficult it was adjusting to the language of YA books to Gothic Novel. This particular word really stumped me:
Physiognomy; Defination - the human face (`kisser' and `smiler' and `mug' are informal terms for `face' and `phiz' is British)
I contiously had to keep highlighting and checking the definitions of this book, I don't know how I could live in
Mary Shelley's head.

And one other current book, would have to be Fifty Shades of Grey. Now as much as I would like to share with you the biggest word... I can't because its to embarassing and may not be suited for my blog of all ages. You all know the E L James is a very explicit writer, and the part that majorly stumped me would have to be the Contract and its Conditions!

Did you have the same with Fifty Shades? What's is your biggest word?  Leave your blog's FF below and I will be sure to 'hop' on over...

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title - Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires #13)
Author - Rachel Caine
Release Date - November 16th 2012

For years, the human and vampire residents of Morganville, Texas, have managed to co-exist in peace. But now that the threat to the vampires has been defeated, the human residents are learning that the gravest danger they face is the enemy within…

Thanks to the eradication of the parasitic creatures known as the draug, the vampires of Morganville have been freed of their usual constraints. With the vampires indulging their every whim, the town’s human population is determined to hold on to their lives by taking up arms. But college student Claire Danvers isn’t about to take sides, considering she has ties to both the humans and the vampires.

To make matters worse, a television show comes to Morganville looking for ghosts, just as vampire and human politics collide. Now, Claire and her friends have to figure out how to keep the peace without ending up on the nightly news… or worse.

OK, I have been waiting for this for months... I knew what the title was, but Rachel Caine kept this very hush hush, especially the cover! Her covers are always beautiful and this one certainly is. I absolutely love her books! Even though this is the 13th book in the series, she NEVER disappoints! She is an extraordinary woman!

Does anybody want to be Clare!? I love her character and of course I am extremely jealous that she has the very HOT Shane!!!! There relationship throughout the whole series is breath-taking and awe-spiring. I absolutely love Michael and Eve though you can't Morganville without them...

You going to be very disappointed with me.... I haven't even read the previous two books, 11 and 12! *SHOCKS* I know right! Well maybe this is a good thing, because I can read them and then get ready for this eagerly anticipated book!!!

Want to join in? Then head over to Jill@Breaking the Spine...
Are you taking part, then leave a me link and I pop over and see what your "Waiting On".

Operation Endgame Blog Tour: Review & Interview with Christi Snow

Title - Operation Endgame (When the Mission Ends Book One)
Author - Christi Snow
Publisher - CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Genre - Romance Suspense
Source - Review Copy for Blog Tour
Pages - 302

This isn’t my usual MO for my book blog, and so far I have been reviewing YA and the occasional Erotica, but the look of these books and book tour would make you blush. The description of Christi’s debut novel was definitely in my league. The relationship of the characters and the military involvement was a very new and fresh aspect that I have not read before. The use of both of these complemented each other and the consistency of the depth of the theme worked extremely well.

Cassie, Chris and Jake have been friends for 20 years and when Cassie has been having dream, nightmares that connect to her brother Chris and she knew something was wrong before the knock at the door. When her best friend delivered the news that her brother; Chris had die in a crash, she was shattered. Jake became her guidance into reality… One night she was Jake took a moment of true happiness and left suddenly afterwards.

6 months has passed. Jake had felt guilty for taking advantage of Cassie, though neither of them knew each other’s true feelings. Jake returned after, Colton, Cassie’s brother asked him too. Cassie herself has been distant and on edge since she has had a stalker on her trail… There are untold secrets that lie ahead… Not only is her life on the line but has Cassie kept her friends close and enemies even closer?

Cassie the protagonist of the novel is a Military History Professor; she is the twin of Chris and has an older brother; Colton. Cassie has had the most wonderful, fun, loving and successful life until it all shatters… Her life falls apart, she becomes distant… but she has Jake. Cassie is a very strong character, driven and focused in what she wants. She’s smart and successful and she sticks to the Status Quo of her life. Her love conquers all!

Jake Madsen has been friends with Cassie and her twin; Chris for 20 years ever since he was hiding in a tree in their back garden. He has been passionate about his career with the Air force from a very young age. All those military games in back garden paid off. Jake is PJ- Pararescue Jumper for the Air Force and has currently been on duty for 6 months, when news arrives of his best friend; Chris is involved in a crash. His guilt surrounds him! He takes care of Cassie in a number of ways, his true friend and companion. What I loved about Jake was his relationship with the twins; you will never know a truer friendship like this one. It’s pure, real and ultimately loving. What I found annoying about his Jake was that he was blind of Cassie’s feeling and all I wanted to do was say: “She LOVES you”!!! Jake is a loving and caring character that you will fall in love with and you will slip a tear every -now -and –then! *Major Swoon, here*

Jake and Cassie’s relationship takes your breath away… Jake can be stubborn and blind as a bat to the feeling that Cassie portrays but the reunion of the wounded soldier *swoon* and a grieving girl… a bigger spark begins… That spark is what makes them become bullet proof; physically and emotionally.

Spoiler ALERT! – “Cass, I don’t know what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, but I know I want to do it here with you. You’ve always been the one for me. My best friend. My other Half. My passion. Will you marry me?”

Christi’s style of writing was exceptional and for this being my very first blog tour it has is a memorable one. Her inspiration and description of the novel is brilliant and it shows by the passion of her writing. The minute I finished this book, I tweeted Christi and said: @ChristiSnow … Are you doing a blog tour for your second book of the series??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Interview with Christi Snow
Hi Christi, Thank you for joining me today...
Who inspired you to write When the Mission Ends?
The original germ of the idea came from my son when he was around 10 years old. The prologue in Operation: Endgame is when Jake, Chris, and Cassie all became friends as kids. That scene was a common occurrence with my son and his friends when we lived at Pope AFB, NC. That group of friends was all about playing war games with full camo gear, face paint, and wooden weapons…and there was a single girl who played with this huge group of boys. As a mom, I would watch them and wonder if that would ever affect who they became as adults. Then, my imagination took over…
Why specifically ‘Romance Suspense’?
As a reader, I adore romantic suspense. I love it when hero/heroine come together over danger and I think that it’s a particularly effective means to push friends to become more. I also really adore friends-to-lover story lines and that’s definitely a huge part of all the books in this series.
How did you come up with the ideas for your debut novel Operation Endgame?
It was definitely a process. The idea started with the kids all meeting. Then it was a matter of figuring out what exactly they would all do for careers after they grew up knowing that they would all want to do something with the military.
My favourite place in the world is Lubbock, Texas where I went to college at Texas Tech University and that provided my tie-in to both the military and civilian world. All my heroines have ties to the University.
Was there anything in your novel that was based on experience (such as the military) or creative writing?
Hmm, no. LOL! Unfortunately, I haven’t had near the excitement in my life that my characters have. Actually that’s probably a good thing since they always seem to be in danger. I’m not big on personal danger.
But my husband was in the Air Force for 20 years and I started writing this series shortly after he retired. For the guys in the series, their stories come about after… After this single mission ends that changes all their lives and what they do when they get out of the military. My husband’s retirement and all our military experiences definitely played into it.
What was your favourite scene to write about and Why? (Anything that involved Jake and Cassie is mine *swoon*, specifically the proposal!)
Ooh, I love that you loved that scene. My absolute favourite scene in the novel is when Jake has to help Cassie in the bathtub after she’s been hurt. I think it shows a lot about their relationship and just the pure sweetness of it, along with the underlying sexual tension. I also love everything about the climactic scenes. There is so much emotion there for everyone…it gets to me every time I read it and I’ve read it at least 50 times. I love those scenes.
Who was your favourite character to write about? And did they have personal or similar personalities/qualities to yourself?
In this book, my favourite character is Cassie. She is so tough and resilient. I wish that I was as sexy and strong as she is. She’s just an awesome kick-ass girl!
In the series overall, my favourite character is Colton (he’s the hero in book #2, Operation: Endeavor). He’s the oldest of the three siblings and 4 years older than twins Chris and Cassie. His siblings are everything to him since they lost their parents when he was 10 and they were 6. But he always feels a bit separate from them because they have such a close relationship simply through the fact that they’re twins. Honestly, I am nothing like Colton (although my brothers may tell you that I’m bossy), but I do share that sibling relationship with him. I have twin brothers who are 4 years younger than me. I adore my brothers, but they definitely have their own special bond that I’m not a part of.
I have to ask this… Is there more in store for Jake and Cassie?
You will most definitely see more of Jake and Cassie in the next two books including their wedding which occurs in book #3, Operation: Endurance.
Describe your book in five words?
Friends + Grief + Danger = Forever Love
Your tagline… “Passion and adventure on the road to Happily Ever After. I have to admit I am loving this adventure.” Who or what lead you to this?
My graphic designer, Amanda Matthews from AM Design Studio (she designed my website and does all my covers) was working on putting together my whole ‘author branding’ and she was talking about slogans and gave me a few examples of what we could do. One of those examples inspired this one. I wanted something that said I wrote romantic suspense and I’m really happy with what we came up with.
Finally is there anything that you would like to say to your readers?
First of all, thank you so much for having me here. I had so fun answering all the questions. I hope everyone loves Jake and Cassie’s love story as much as I loved writing it. There is definitely more to come for the Robertson family. ;o)
Thank you so much for joining us today Christi.
Well, there you have it, such a brilliant author and one that I can't wait to see more of over the next coming months. It's been a pleasure to review this book and to be able to get an interview for Never Judge a Book by its Covers.
Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it's an interesting way to get to know one another.
Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?
A: The Twilight Saga... It started my obesseion for YA and here I am now....
Extended Answer: More recently though it would have to be either... Divergent/Insurgent and Unfortunatley I am going to say The Fifty Shades Trilogy because I did enjoy for it hype and its storyline... No matter how inconsistant her writing style is.
I know its a long answer but I had more to say as there is so many for this question, don't you think?
What did you think of The Twilight Saga? What's your best hype?  Leave your blog's FF below and I will be sure to 'hop' on over...
"Waiting on" Wednesday (#5)
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Pivot Point
Title - Pivot Point
Author - Kasie West
Released Date: February 12th 2013
Addison Coleman's life is one big "What if?" As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It's the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie's parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with–her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the "Norms," or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it's not.
In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school–but she never wanted to be a quarterback's girlfriend. When Addie's father is asked to consult on a murder in the compound, she's unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she's willing to live through...and who she can't live without.
This book I found on Goodreads, (isn't it brilliant!?) and this one caught my eye for this weeks 'WoW'. The Book description looks very intriguing so does the cover. I love the reflection of two personalities, and/or of two choices she has to make the Quaterback or the Artist. Now personally they seem very nice, but I would say that from the description I would go for the Artist... I share a common interest with him. Hmmm.
Want to join in? Then head over to Jill@Breaking the Spine...
Are you taking part, then leave a me link and I pop over and see what your "Waiting On".
I'm very excited to say that I received my very first ARC through the post which is....
Blink Once by Cylin Busby - This looks like a very intriguing story of which I have never encountered a book such as this and I can't wait to read this. The cover is beautiful and peaceful. The thing that I love about receiving books, you never know what may come through the letterbox.
From NetGalley I also recieved:
Some very HOT covers *swoon*:
Forbidden by Jacquelyn Frank - I know these are not YA books, but these books definitely caught my eye, I still like my fantasies.
Forever Werewolf by Michele Hauf - Yet another... what can I say I'm a sucker for Werewolf hotties.
Mark of the Witch by Maggie Smith - This one has a nice cover but I liked the description of the novel. Its something different for me to read, I'm not one to read about witches so I can't wait to read this.
 Fade by A.K. Morgen - I have seen this across many blogs and again I had to request and I'm so glad that I received it.
Kept by Shawntelle Madison - I have to say I this look of this book and the description looked great.
Fangtabulous by Lucienne Diver -  Now this one the title certainty compelled me to read this. I would love this book to be fangtabulous!!
I would like to thank Bloomsbury and NetGalley for these awesome books!
I know I have got myself a lot of werewolf novels and to be honest I am a vampire girl at heart but I wanted to try out some more see if it would change or convince me that they are either equal or better.
Have you read these? I would like to know what you thought!
Are you taking part? Leave me link, I would love to see what you received this week.
Showcase Sunday (#4)
Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits & Tea.
Its an opportunity to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.
II have recently signed up to Netgalley and its BRILLIANT! I can't believe I didn't sign up sooner. I requested loads of books and I didn't think I would get any acceptances and I did...  This week I have chosen...
League of Strays by L.B. Schulman - I requested this because I have seen this across many blogs and I the synopsis looks particularly intriguing.
The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa - I absolutely love this author from her Iron Fey series and her recently The Immortal Rules, which I have got too read. The cover is also very intriguing ;)
Refuge by Carole Rummage - This I requested purely for the synopsis, she falls for an art student and that is right up my alley, me being an art student of course.
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - I have seen this in the store and on other blogs and looked amazing. I have seen different covers, but the plot looks very compelling.
 For review and my upcoming blog tours I have received...
Only in her Dreams by Christina McKnight - This is my second Blog Tour and they are going really well, I really cant wait to sink my teeth in this one and the cover gives you an indication of what the novel is about. This cover is hot...
Word and Breath by Susannah Noel - Susannah approached me with a review request and I couldn't be happier to review this book, its looks brilliant and the cover is so breath-taking, pun intended!
I promised you a bigger collection of books and here it is.... So a big massive Thank you to NetGalley, Bewitching Blog Tours and Susannah Noel!
Heart Search: Lost - Cover Revealing!!!!!
This is what I came across this weekend... A debut novel from a brilliant author I have got to known over the past few weeks. This fab book new book is being released on the 8th October and I have managed to get my hands on a copy of the book cover and the book blurb!
Drumroll please......                                                   ...Heart Search, Book One: Lost
                                                                                           by Carlie M. A. Cullen
And here is an exciting Blurb Tease for you all...
One bite starts it all . . .
When Joshua Grant vanishes days before his wedding his fiancée Remy is left with only bruises, scratch marks and a hastily written note. Heartbroken, she sets off alone to find him and begins a long journey where strange things begin to happen.
As Joshua descends into his new immortal life he indulges his thirst for blood and explores his superhuman strength and amazing new talents while becoming embroiled in coven politics which threaten to destroy him. But Remy discovers a strength of her own on her quest to bring Joshua home.
Fate toys with mortals and immortals alike, as two hearts torn apart by darkness face ordeals which test them to their limits.
I really like this cover, its simple and dark yet the font gives it a real texture to the novel. The dripping of the 'Heart Search'... it gives Carlie's debut novel an aspect as to what expect!
Now the blurb... That gives it a bite to the novel, pun intended of course. I really want to know what happens now! I can't wait. I really want to know what Josuha Grant is like  *wink* ... Any hints Carlie!?
Keep eyes peeled and and yourself posted for the next reveal on the.... 25th or 26th September.
Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
A: The Hunger Games. I hate to say this but you are probably going to say "WHAT!?" to this but the book. I  loved the movie and the first was alright but, the rest were awful and I'm not a great fan. On this note, I'm going to have to say that the film was better than the books. Sorry!
Review - Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Title - Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits #1)
Author - Katie McGarry
Publisher - Harlequin Teen
Genre - Contemporary
Pages - 384
Rating -
I've seen this book across blogs and book sites and then I saw it as an ARC on NetGalley. I couldn't resist. I couldn't be more right with book! WOOOOOOOOOOW! I'm loved this heart-breaking, soul searching novel for normalcy. This left me in a flood of tears throughout the whole book.
Seventeen year-old Echo Everson was a popular teenager, until two years ago when everything took a turn for the worst... Her babysitter invaded her family, her parents divorced, and her brother Aires died in the Marines. One a night, two years ago she woke in the hospital screaming from the untold cuts and scars and having no memory of recollection of the events of that night. Since then she has been to a number of physicist to help remember but that only leads to episodes, being swallowed into a black hole... Now her newest social therapist at her local school Mrs. Collin's. But her threpist sessions are soon disturbed by Noah Hutchins; bad-boy stoner for a reputation for one night stands.
Noah Hutchins has some problems of his own. One night, two and half years ago, a fire occurred at his home,   his brothers; Jacob and Tyler survived but his parents didn't... He was then involved with social workers and soon into the foster care system, but his emotions got the better of him and he punched his step-father for inappropriate behaviour to another child. The repercussions of sent off the Foster care and permanently spilt from his brothers, which tore him up.  Being appointed by therapist; with Mrs. Collins was wasn't he wanted, with only limited visitations, he wants to make a life for his brothers by applying for custody of legal custody of his brothers. What he didn't expect to find was a Echo Emerson.
Echo and Noah, is a torn and heart-breaking love that will leave in floods. Both being from different backgrounds, yet troubling pasts, they aren't so different. All they want is normality. In order to find normality. Mrs Collins pairs them for tutoring; Echo to raise money to fix Aires car, to repair his memory, and Noah to get the best grades he can to achieve custody of his brothers. But their connections deepens with each passing day. Noah becomes fascinated with her "siren smile" and Echo becomes compelled by his nature and the normalcy that surrounds them both. What makes this a beautiful relationship is the delicacy he has with her scars, he makes her become the person she was! She exposes her scars and becomes this new person, not a freak! When their worlds collide there is no turning back!
“If you’re scared, tell me. If you need to cry and scream, then do it. And you sure as hell don’t walk away from us because you think it would be better for me. Here’s the reality, Echo: I want to be by your side. If you want to go to the mall stark naked so you can show the world your scars, then let me hold your hand. If you want to see your mom, then tell me that too. I may not always understand, but damn, baby, I’ll try.”
What I found INFURIATING was her father, Owen and Ashley. They made me so ANGRY by their attitudes and the secrecy of the that one night. Now Ashley, wow, she is even worse, her baby woes and her insolence of her step-daughters scars irritate her because Echo is not normal. Echo has always said that she loved her as a baby-sitter yet she despises her as a step-mother because she took away her real mother and stole the love of her father from her into her unborn child. You can tell how irritated I am! Believe me after read this book, you want to punch her father or shake him, to return to reality.
Katie McGarry has a fresh and enchanting way of writing such a beautiful and delicate debut novel. How can Katie write such an emotional and stunning novel. I applaud Katie McGarry for her genius and creative writing of this book. This is by a far my favourite contemporary YA novel of this year. I hope there will be sequel.
I want to tell you everything, but its too many spoilers for you all. All I can say.... It will leave you feeling fresh and free yet your tears will tell you a different story.
''Waiting on'' Wednesday (#4)
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Altered (Altered, #1)Title - Altered (Altered #1)
Author - Jennifer Rush
Release Date - January 2nd 2013
A story that starts with a girl and a boy. A girl who loves a boy so much , she'll risk anything for him. And a boy who knows only one thing--- kill anyone who stands in his way.
When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?
Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna’s heart. When the Branch decides it’s time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.
Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There’s just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.
Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they’re both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away.
This looks like a very exciting novel, that I came across on Goodreads. The suspense of the Anna and Sam relationship and helping Sam remember his true identity. It looks like a story of two worlds and together they become one. Its cover really intrigues me with the pattern of branches and obviously the half-naked guy. Well you can't miss that now can you *laughing*.
Review - Everneath by Brodi Ashton
Title - Everneath (Everneath #1)
Author - Brodi Ashton
Publisher - Simon & Schuster Childrens Books
Genre - Paranormal Romance
Now I must confess that I did judge this book by its cover. It's beautiful and the way her dress portrays the space and infinity of the Surface and the Everneath, or in Nikki's case Hell. Sinister yet Enchanting. Once I read the description... that had concluded my decision... two boys, one girl and Immortality? It didn't disappoint.
~~~6 months ago ~~~
Nikki Beckett had her whole life ahead of her... until she got sucked into the realms of the Everneath...
~~~Century later/6 months later~~~
Nikki Returns to seek the love her of life Jack and repair the loss and sadness that became of her family... Nikki finds it hard to regain her emotions when she has been sucked of her essense... Now she Returns with a plan, but Cole, dangerously handsome Everling followers her from beneath. Its not long until she only has 6 month left.
6 months to say goodbye, 6 months to make the hardest decisions in her life, 6 months to find redemption, and 6 months to remember why...
~~~
Nikki Beckett, the protagonist of the novel is simple 'typical teenage girl' until tragedy struck with her family as she decides to take the pain away. The determination of her pain resolves in surfacing into her home-town. Her character often portrays her weaknesses as her strengths. Clearly her emotions and loyalty becomes the better of her. Her loyalty is directed more towards her ex-boyfriend Jack, her true-love and the answer to her problems. Nikki has a choice... to seek redemption and stay on the Surface, or be claimed by the Shades and the rules of the Tunnels...

Jack is the 'popular guy' but he is the anchor of the novel. His with-standing friendship with Nikki becomes the his greatest and loving relationship... Together they are their strength of redemption, together their weakness lies in the romantic intent. He is a decent guy and the one that you will all fall for, believe me. His emotions become his baggage when Nikki vanished, but he cannot live without and knowing that she might go away again will only makes it worse... Their love is pure, true and enchanting. Don't let Cole distract you, he is an possessive, mythical creature who will up-heave anything to come between Nikki and Change. He can't admit his feeling because he feeds of them...

What I found very intriguing and interesting about the novel and the style of writing is that the various parts of the book act as the Nikki emotional balance throughout the book. You may say huh, what does she mean by that... When  you read this book at the beginning; Nikki character is empty and unstable at grasping life. In the middle, her character is balanced. In the end she is overwhelmed with life and emotions that she is so close to the edge, but she doesn't fall... and so the series continues.

Review - Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Title - Insurgent (Divergent #2)
Author - Veronica Roth
Publisher - HarperCollinsChildren'sBooks
Genre - Dystopia
Pages - 525

I finished this a last week, but I have been so busy that I have only had today to review.

Now you know how much I loved Divergent and they always say 'the first book is always better than the first', but I totally disagree they are equal, it didn't disappoint...

After escaping the wrath of Erudite and its nemesis Jeannie, Tris survived a brutal attack physically and emotionally. Here world is shattering by the day. Now she is running... running from Erudite and Dauntless soldiers and slowly running from herself. As she runs from safe-house to safe-house and factions she becomes more reckless, and there is always repercussions. The consequences of her heart, her family and friends and the sacrifice of her life. Tris's hope of survival is knowledge...knowledge is the key.

Tris has no home. No faction. No parents and no true identity. She is Divergent. Her divergency is her identity but she has yet to understand her identity. She has an essence of all factions, some more than others and this allows her to reckless, but at what cost. Our protagonist, is brave, reckless, toughing, sacrificial, yet she is unstable of her emotions. Tris character develops throughout the whole book, yet her personality disintegrates. Tris has no control over the destiny of her faction, it not down to her, yet she feels it does. Her sacrifice  repercusses onto everyone else... more specifically Tobias. Her secrets becomes her weakness for those closer to her, yet they are her strength when she devises the attack that could save her shattered world and her heart.

Tobias faces even more challenges in this novel. He faces his fear-landscape for real, not in a simulation. Tobias has co-operate with his abusive father, Marcus, yet he has to face his not-so-dead mother, Evelyn. Evelyn is the head of the factionless, where nobody belongs. At first Tobias becomes very reckless, and single-minded when it comes to his fears, he makes spilt-decisions that has more meaning, than it should. Tobias's character is very protective of Tris, he loves her so much, he can't bear to see anything happen to her... Tobias also becomes on a elf-destructive mode and that is what love can do to you. What I admire about Tobias is that is who he is, he's not Four anymore only for his Dauntless reputation. He reveals himself completely in this novel, he also brings out the best in Tris, brings out her true personality.

“We both have war inside us. Sometimes it keeps us alive. Sometimes it threatens to destroy us.”

Tris and Tobias together have a challenging and rocky road ahead and this is what I love about a Veronica Roth, its just plain-sailing in their relationship. Together they define each other. Separately their definitions becomes the icy patch ahead. Tobias hates when Tris makes and acts on her decisions alone. Tobias is a part of her, Tris is a part of him, they are inseparable. Tris's single-mindedness triggers the novel. However, you want to wish for them to be perfect, that would be story not life. Nothing is perfect and Veronica's reflection of that makes you realise that. All you want to do root for them all the way. Their romance makes this YA novel something else, something unique.

What i found compelling about this novel was that there was so many twists, turns, shocks and awes, that you just couldn't put it down. These are one of the best YA teen dystopian novels that you will ever get to read for so long... Like I said before Veronica Roth has done herself justice for this novel and to create an equally brilliant and aspiring is very hard achieve... If you haven't read this series then PLEASE do! I just cant wait to see what will become of Tris and Tobias...

“I'll be your family now," he says. "I love you," I say. (....)

He stares at me. I wait with my hands clutching his arms for stability as he considers his response.
He frowns at me. "Say it again."
"Tobias," I say, "I love you.”

Feature & Follow (#3)

Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participating, and to expand their following. Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it's an interesting way to get to know one another.

Q: What book(s) are you reading right now? What do you think of it?

A: At the moment I am reading Operation Endgame by Christi Snow for my first Book Blog Tour (See sidebar). The beginning of the novel is surprisingly very good. The characters are awesome, they are well established and current in the novel. They share something so valuable that it makes you think about your own life, in a good way.

Any of you on the Blog Tour?? What are you currently reading? Leave your blog's FF below and I will be sure to 'hop' on over...
