The girl he thinks he loves needs to disappear. I don't want tonight to be irreversible, so I pull away, breathing him in one last time.

Ella and Micha have been best friends since childhood, until one tragic night shatters their relationship and Ella decides to leave everything behind to start a new life at college, including Micha.

But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella's skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he's determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes.

To begin with this was my first New Adult book that I've read...well in all honesty I really didn't know what an NA book was until the beginning of this blog. I read and reviewed but I never took much notice. I've come of the age where NA are more suited to me now, but YA will be a favorite of mine. Anyways I'm rambling, onto my review...

The Secrets of Ella and Micha begins with a climatic moment between there relationship,

"Ella, I love - I crush my lips against his, hushing him and melting our bodies together..."
but Ella 'bailed', she ran away from her problems including Micha rather than facing them. Instead she became Miss Popular at a college in Vegas, trying to turn her life around until she dreads the moment of returning for the summer. Will she avoid Micha? What will he think of her now? Is the real Ella Daniels he fell for and loves still in her. Its time for both Ella and Micha reveal their buried souls and secrets. This sounds like such a cliché description, more like an synopsis than anything. I read this a least 2 weeks ago, with no notes or flicking through the book, this is how its in planted on my mind. What I loved was the structure of the book, its cliche was their problems, but that's gives the characters depth especially Ella Daniels! It's alternate perspectives was interesting to say the least, you have no connection with Micha, which is a good thing, because his persona differs from you as a reader and Ella. You question yourself 'Was Ella really like that?' Jessica presents such a emotional and souls searching novel that's its hard to put down.

In Ella's world, (or should I say worlds) she is two people. It felt like almost a Before and After transition throughout the book. Before; Ella was almost this fire cracker. She had soul, passion and she was fearful of everything around. She was Ella May. She was accepted, but she had family problems, her mum was a drug addict and felt low when she committed suicide. Her brother and father blame her for her death. That's the tragic thing, nobody heard her...only Micha. After...eight months Ella May becomes the college girl, faced and followed by rules, smart, collected and secluded with her friend Lila. Do I prefer a persona, no! I think what I loved is how Jessica unites both persona's into a unique Ella, a Ella resolved from problems, secrets and most of all Love!

When Ella returns to her hometown after eight months of collage, she didn't know what to expect, especially from Micha. Micha has been going out of his mind trying to locate Ella, she left without a trace or convincing in anyone of where she went. When he sees her for the first time, relief and anticipation courses through his body. There is no lack of sexual tension in this book, so you won't get bored of his 'piercing blue eyes' or his lip ring. The steamy hot relationship between is something you won't forget, its gradual, which for was infuriating when all I want to say 'Come On, Get together' SAY YES!

“You're crazy if you think that you can run off and change your identity. This unfeeling, preppy girl thing you got going on," he motions his hand at my tank top, white frilly skirt, and curly hair, "is nothing but bull shit. You can't just change who you are on the outside and expect it to change who you are on the inside.”
But that's what made it even more intriguing and unforgettable. Micha's character is nothing to be tried with, he will stop at nothing to get the person he fell in love with, before and after!

In a way I would say this is a toned down Fifty Shades but in all honesty it had more than that. I look now at my ratings of Fifty Shades, and I'm thinking, why? Jessica unites two very distinct personas of passion, love and truth. I look forward to how Jessica will develop their relationship in The Forever of Ella and Micha, coming September 2013

Its safe to say, that NA for me will not stop here...

Realm of Read-Along is a monthly feature hosted by me, Emma, from Never Judge a Book by its Cover and Kyra from Blog of a Bookaholic. We decided to start a meme that would help decrease that ever-growing pile of TBR’s whether they are eBooks, Bought or Borrowed Books and ARC’s.

Hi Everyone,

Today is the beginning and the first Realm of Read-Along book feature. As you saw on Friday the reveal for this month is... Cinder by Marissa Meyer.

So for those of you who would like to join along with myself and Kyra, here is what you have to do:

  • First Link yourself up with the Linky posted below. The more the merrier!
  • Grab our button for this months book to showcase our meme across the blogosphere.
  • Then as part of the discussion with the read-along, we have created a Goodreads Group were we will create discussion post for every book in Cinder you have read. Instead of every 5 chapters we saw that Cinder was split into Books, so when you finish each book we would love to see your thoughts so far.

Never Judge a Book by its Cover

There is no rush to read this book, we know that like myself we are going through exams, revision or generally lots of homework and studying. All we would like is to share the realm of reading along with us.

After the first Read-Along we will then ask what you thought and how could do it better? What do you think of this meme? Would like you to join us? Leave us a comment, we would love to know what you think?

Realm of Read-Along: Book of the Month {April}

As some of you may know, Kyra from Blog of a Bookaholic and I, have created a read-a-long meme, where we choose a book to read together and then discuss the book once we have finished it! If you want to read-a-long a book with us you can become a member on our Goodreads group to keep track of our discussion posts and see what the other readers think. There will also be a Linky list available if you want to sign up to read the chosen book of the month.

We also created a Goodreads group, where we will keep track of the books we have read and also discuss what we thought of the books. There are a few members that would like to read-a-long with us and Kyra and I will reveal which book was chosen for the April read-a-long! The sign-ups for the specific book will be up on Monday, where you will be able to put your name down if you want to read the book with us!

We placed a poll on the Goodreads group, and the members of the group voted which book they would like to read this out of these ten books:

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.

Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.

In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

At first it does shed some light on the cliche of a typical angel novel. Like Angel, Hush Hush to a certain extent the genre of angel novels have their similarities and there differences. However the concept of The Watcher was surprising for me as it held a uniqueness to those that I have read before.  What was also nice is that I showcased this as a 'WoW' and I'm glad is surpassed by expectations.

At the beginning Mia is faced with finding a dead body in the local park, finding herself at the peril of a large monster coming straight for her. All she remembers is a beautiful boy in the distance... But Mia sees him in the Mall and then a enrolling at her school. Mia senses that there is more to him that meets the eye. Michael Fontaine, is way to good to be true and has a history with Mia in her past life. But you know that there will be someone to stop them... Damiel, a fallen angel has more in connection to Mia and Michael than they are letting. From my description it doesn't appear very inspiring or remotely enjoyable, but please give it some time because this is only a smidgen of the mystery, drama, forbidden love and timeless era's that you will endure. The only thing that did let it down in the beginning was the the pace and consistency of the storyline, it went a little bit to quick, I think critically I would say I would have liked a bit more context of Mia's life presently!

Mia is an intriguing character but nothing spontaneous that I haven't seen before. For me she got more interesting when her past lives begun through her eyes, how each layer is represented by the many generations of living in the different eras that made her the character she is currently. The cliche is that she has to falls head over heels in love with a secretive, secluded and the hottest new guy at school. There is no surprise to the love that both Michael and herself share. For what caught me was the history and depth of the relationship that they have shared for eternity became almost real.

What I did find surprising was my excitement, constant smiling and how I felt for the male protagonist rather than a female. For me this novel was based on the depth of love that you endured and the feeling that Michael passes through you, the reader. Michael is an earth-shattering angel that you  fall completely in love with. In beginning he appeared insensitive, rigid and somewhat cold to Mia trying to make out that 'its not you it me' theory which is typically annoying.  But as he characters progresses we see his humanity and the reality of the story through him.

The Watcher offers an old-fashioned, thrilling and mysterious concept to the endure Voisin's intuition and inspiration of the novel. Her description and fortelling of the novel is simply brilliant. I'm looking forward to reading more of Lisa's work and loved being part of this tour.

Good Luck Everyone!

Cheerio... For a little while

Hey Everyone,

As you can gather from the title I'm taking a little break. I'm currently on my holidays for two weeks and I thought I would be able to get through my work, college and my blog but sadly I can't, its becoming increasingly hard to concentrate on more than one thing especially as I'm coming to the last months of college forever *Big Cheers*

I'm going to be on Goodreads and Twitter of course so you can always say hi to me there. I'm going to read and catch-up on some eGalleys in the next week so I won't be around for a week and a bit. I'm sorry... I hope to see you around.

See ya'll soon
