Saving Quinton (Nova #2)
by Jessica Sorensen
Publisher – Sphere
Release Date – February 5th 2015 (UK Paperback)
Buy – Amazon | Book Depository

Nova Reed can’t forget him-Quinton Carter, the boy with the honey-brown eyes who made her realize she deserved more than an empty life. His pain was so similar to her own. But Nova has been coming to terms with her past and healing, while Quinton is out there somewhere, sinking deeper. She’s determined to find him and help him . . . before it’s too late.

Nova has haunted his dreams for nearly a year-but Quinton never thought a sweet, kind person like her would care enough about a person like him. To Quinton, a dark, dangerous life is exactly what he deserves. And Nova has no place in it. But Nova has followed him to Las Vegas, and now he must do whatever it takes to keep her away, to maintain his self-imposed punishment for the unforgivable things he’s done. But there’s one flaw in his plan: Nova isn’t going anywhere . . .

Please note: This book isn’t for younger readers.
Mrs Sorensen continues Nova’s and Quinton’s story in this installment, with a far more intense and in depth look to the destructive and dark path that Quinton has lead himself. Why do I feel so drawn to this series in comparison to her others, I don’t know.
Taking once again the dual perspective of Nova and Quinton, we see the flip side to Breaking Nova. Now that Nova has broken her connection to Landon’s death and is slowly moving and living her life, it’s her turn to save Quinton. To save him from the destruction that is his own mind, his drug induced state, as he’s sinking further further into a dark wormhole and there isn’t no light at the end of the tunnel. But Nova can be the light for Quinton. She warmth, caring, loving, the happiness that Quinton doesn’t deserve yet Nova believes she is. She believes in him. What I found inspiring was how much she believed and how far she would got to save him. She felt that she failed Landon, her former boyfriend, because she didn’t see the darkness that was consuming while they were together which lead to him taking his life. So she decides NOT to make that mistake again.
Quinton Carter has blamed himself of the death of his girlfriend, Lexi and Tristan’s sister Ryder, since the accident two years ago. What I should remind you and what Nova reminded him, it was ONLY an accident, he couldn’t control what happened that day. He was brought back to life to relive that moment everyday, so he turned to drugs to drown out the pain and the emotion. But a small high, became himself gong into a state of oblivion. Nova reminds him a little of Lexi but also hope too. I found Quinton to be on such a destructive path that I really hoped that Nova could/can help him. It was if I’m truly honest; horrifying, devastating, so intense to watch, listen, imagine what Quinton goes through. It was hard to comprehend, to understand, being in someone’s mind full of so much sadness and pain, that it brings me to tears. That’s what Jessica does.
You can’t put into words what this book can do to you, it’s in truth reality and a sad reality to read about but there is hope, there is help and that’s what Sorensen reminds us about. Whilst she take a different approach to her Secret series, she does highlight similar issues and responsibilities in her novels, but it’s the way she writes it that makes that difference. You can’t just stop here, I need to know there is a happy ending, I NEED that happy ending for two people who have been through hell and back to live again.
Right now I’m listening to Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding from the Fifty Shades of Grey movie and it so apt for this book, it’s lyrics, not the movie. So far I’ve found that I’ve really enjoyed this series out of all of her books and even though there is an underlining of shock and depressing nature to the character lives, I still felt drawn to what happens to them both. With an introduction to some new characters, shocking truths and out of control behavior, Saving Quinton is a great sequel and I can’t wait to see if my hopes come true them in Nova and Quinton: No Regrets.

SIMPLY PUT… this series is an ADDICTION! (Pun intended in a good sense!)

Some of my favourite quotes. I made some Quote Button’s using some of the model’s cover shots.

  4. I read and enjoyed the first one, Emma, but I'm afraid to pick this one up because I don't like watching someone on a destructive path. It does sound like an emotional story. I'm wondering when the last book comes out, or maybe it has already. Wonderful review! 🙂
