BLOG TOUR – THE WINNER’S KISS:COVER ART AND PHOTO SET by Marie Rutkoski

Hello Everyone.. as you can see I am part of a few blog tours lately. But I will resume my reviews shortly by next week hopefully. Anyways today I’m super excited to be part of The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski – the final book in the trilogy. I have to say I was unsure as the second book in the series, I DNF-d but I reread the first book and I absolutely loved it even more and I am going to read the sequel and finale very shortly. Today I bring to you a special post behind the Cover Art of the books – they are simply stunning aren’t they?! and also some of my very own Book Photography. But before that, here is a little bit more about the book.

The Winner’s Kiss (The Winner’s Trilogy #3)
by Marie Rutkoski
Publisher – Bloomsbury
Release Date – March 24th 2016
Buy – Amazon | Book Depository

War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him.

At least, that’s what he thinks.

In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.

But no one gets what they want just by wishing.

As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?

Cover Art

What I love about this series is just how gorgeous these covers are and just wanted to see how these were created…so the lovely publishers of Bloomsbury let me into their secret…

UK covers

So all covers were designed by Elizabeth Clark at Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group in the U.S., small tweaks like dress colour were made here in the UK by our designers Katie Everson and Maia Ford. I’ve attached our three covers.

Katie Everson is also a recent debut author with her book Drop which I have yet to read. These covers originate from the US here and you can see the subtle changes that were made. I think that the UK covers just add that something extra – don’t you think?!

And also here are the new covers from the US too—–>

– personally I prefer the old one of the US and the current ones of the UK. I think the original covers stand out more – these don’t really feel like they are portraying Kestrel or what she stands for. What do you think?

Photo Set

The lovely publishers have also noticed my Instagram and that they enjoyed my photos, personally I think there are people with better book photography than me but I tried to be a bit creative by adding a bit of Bite and Sting to the photos. Hope you enjoy! For more of my photo’s please visit my Instagram here!

  1. I'm not a fan of the new US covers whatsoever but I also wish the colors for the UK and US covers had been merged. The blue dress for The Winner's Crime is gorgeous and accurate to the story as is the emerald dress in The Winner's Kiss. The pink, blue, and green as a set is what I really want but these covers are beautiful regardless. Wonderful post, Emma!

  2. Honestly, I prefer the new US covers, because in the old covers, Kestrel looks innocent, like a pretty little lamb so save, but she was never weak like that, especially not in the thid book! So yeah, go new covers (even though they're not as pretty :P)

  3. I just bought the Winner's Kiss yesterday! The covers really are pretty although I don't really see why they changed up the dress colors. I'm not a fan of the new US covers – at all.

  4. Beautiful photos Emma, I absolutely love the UK versions as well because we have them here in Australia. Not a fan of the redesigned covers but it's interesting to see different dresses for Kestrel!

  5. I love, love, love the original covers for this series! The angle of the photo is unusual, we don't normally look down on cover images and I like that about these. Makes them stand out amidst the other books that feature gorgeous dresses:)
