When Blaire Wynn’s mother passed away, Blaire’s life changed in an instant. Having cared for her sick mother for the last three years, suddenly Blaire has to leave the small farmhouse in Alabama they shared, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. But what she isn’t prepared for is the lifestyle change that comes with the move, and she knows she’ll never fit into the new world of luxury and extravagance that suddenly surrounds her.
Even worse, her father has run off to Paris for the summer with his wife, leaving her stranded with Rush, her new stepbrother, who’s irritating, arrogant and… seriously sexy. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous; his famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no. Blaire knows he is anything but good for her, but somehow she can’t fight the attraction she’s feeling, especially when she starts to think the attraction might be mutual… Rush is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that Blaire just may have fallen too far.

Fallen Too Far was something I picked up out of distraction. I need something short, steamy and romantic and certainly did deliver that. That being said it was also my first Abbi Glines novel, I know I’m certainly behind on the times of NA with this author but she certainly know how to put a cracker of a story in such a short amount of time.
After her mum died and the house gone to pay off her treatments, Blaire had to find somewhere to go, to live and her last resort was her dad in Florida. This was no means a first choice decision for Blaire after her dad left her and mum when her twin sister died in the car he was driving. Was it guilt or that he couldn’t deal that was anyone’s guess but to Blaire she couldn’t care less. She’s angry and she has every right to be. Once in Florida, the only person home was Rush, her step-brother, and my god was she in trouble. Whilst, his mum and her dad are away for the month, Blaire has to find a job, save some money to by a flat, before those infamous grey eyes of Rush’s becomes to tempting to be swallowed up in whole.
Blaire is a sweetie and an innocent one at that. She maybe living in the bedroom under the stairs but at least it secluded her from the rest of the house and of course Rush. What I thought was generous and caring was that she didn’t like to impose on people or be codependent on them too. Sh wanted to independent and fend her self, whether that’s having peanut butter sandwiches as her breakfast and lunch. Bless her. When it comes to Rush, she doesn’t know how to be around him. He’s very intimidating, there’s also something untouchable about him too, she doesn’t know whether to run and hide, or stick it out and found out what happens. But she doesn’t want her heart broken either.
Now explain this to me, is it right to be ‘having a relationship’ with your own step-brother? This was the part that I felt was a little weird in places. Though my judgement was certainly clouded by how very imposing, strong and hot Rush was too. It certainly wasn’t afraid to show his true nature for sure. Rush is the son of a band member and clearly what comes with a band member is a lot of baggage and he has that revolving around his sister and also his challenging feelings for Blaire too. At times I thought he was a bit of douche in the beginning, his attitude to Blaire was cold and also his extra-curricular activities sparked something almost feral in him when it came to her living in his own house.

“Because I’ve had a taste and I’m not sharing. This isn’t just for fun. I may be slightly addicted.”

This is a book that can be read in one sitting, although I was very much willing to do that other reality problems, i.e. work got involved so I had to put it down. However it didn’t stop me from constantly picking it up in my breaks. What I loved about FTF was that there was far less drama and darkness to the characters. We saw a glimpse of the pasts but wasn’t shoved down out throat either which sometimes you can find in longer novels. Although there were times in the novel and I was thinking this can’t be right or that was a bit of a crappy thing to do (pardon my french) that was really more to do with the character’s decision more than the storyline itself. Glines certainly has a way with words too, in such a short amount of space she can create such an addicting storyline with characters too match.
Abbi Glines has proved to be yet another NA author to look out for, I have Breathe to read from her Sea Breeze series which I can’t to read as well continuing Rush and Blaire’s story in Never Too Far. If your like me and haven’t read Abbi or have read everything in NA but her then please go read it. I find the shortness and steaminess of the novel to be the attraction of her writing and her characters.

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed this novel, Emma. I think Abbi was the second new adult author whose works I fell in love with. I think I might have read Breat before Fallen Too Far but I honestly don't remember, be prepared, Breath feels like more like a YA novel than a NA. Whichever book of her I read first I was instantly addicted to her novels, though I think what's keeping me away from her novels now is that I read so many of her works right after each other. Anyways, hope you'll continue enjoying her books for a long time. 🙂
    Lovely review.

  2. Abbi's stories are always full of heartache and angst but they are so darn addicting! I'm so glad you tried and liked her work!

  3. There seems to be a trend of focused on half-sibling romances, which personally I find distasteful. I love your review, though. The story has the potential of a nice palate cleanser 🙂

  4. I've had a copy of this for so long, but I keep overlooking it because I don't want an overly angsty romance. It sounds like it's not too bad, so maybe I should reconsider. Breathe was Abbi's first book and its fun but not as good as The Vincent Boys & sequel. She does write addictive stories. Nice to hear you enjoyed this, Emma!

  5. I really need to try this author again. I read Breathe, but it was a total miss for me. I know she's a popular author, so I want to see if it was just that book. Glad this one gave you what you were looking for.

  6. Stepbrother romances seem to be a new trend lately, and I'm not sure how I feel about it! Obviously they're not related in any way, but there's still something a little off-putting about it. That being said, it seems like Abbi knows how to make any slight ick factor fly right out the window:) I have yet to read one of her books, but clearly need to! Fantastic review Emma:)

  7. I loved this one so much so I'm delighted you enjoyed it too! It was just addictive, I couldn't put it down and I loved how hot and sweet and emotional it was! Fab review Emma!
