…of all books I didn’t get to review in 2016!
(So due to loads of things last year, there was some really great books that I never got to review so I thought I would so some really short reviews that would make me feel better for reviewing them and showing you just how amazing they are!)

Did I Mention I Miss You (DIMILY #3)
by Estelle Maskame
Publisher – Black and White Publishing
Date read – September 2016

Review – This is it, the end of the most addictive and sensational contemporary novel to date. What was annoying was that the date of the publication was put back a few times, so what I thought turned out to be a couple of months, it was half a year. These books couldn’t be out like every year it would leave me feeling very frustrating, whether or not they would get together or not. Not to mention it’s the hottest of romances featuring step-siblings. Yeah, it’s a bit weird, but you can’t help it and I think if the love they feel for each is real, there is no stopping it. This novel is quite surprising just from the character’s POV, especially Tyler he is one to look out for because he is a inspiration. Estelle Maskame is a remarkable author to create such a series in a short time of publication, it was like she was on fire with this series, I could tell that through the romance, characters and their relationships. If you haven’t picked up this series, then do. Your shelf shouldn’t be without it.

The Big Lie
by Julie Mayhew
Publisher – Hot Key Books
Date read – September 2016

Review – The Big Lie was another novel as part of the Hounslow Teen Read award that I was part of. It was most certainly an interesting novel. I got about 80 pages in and I wasn’t sure if it was for me. But I had to persevered, I was after all I was voting the long list, and this became my second favourite of the list. (You can see just how good this shortlist is already.) What I liked was the storyline, it was intriguing, that Germany won the war and now a Nazi Britain was in charge and everyone else had to fall in line with that belief. However there are people such as young Jessika that doesn’t really know what she believes let alone knows who she really is as well. The Big Lie deals with real-life issues in a very controversial and strict environment, her sexuality, boys or girls and how this isn’t appropriate or correct in the society that she lives in. This novel has a lot going for it, however the let down was that it didn’t follow through in it’s potential of the story it could be and I’m sadly certainly getting that from my reading group too. Sadly this didn’t live up to my expectations and I find that I’m somewhat undecided when it comes to her novels in the future.

The Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass #0.1-0.5)
by Sarah J. Maas
Publisher – Bloomsbury
Date read – September 2016
Find my review for book 2

Review – Well what can I really say that you don’t already know…ha. I can’t glorify this sensational series anymore than all the credit it has across the whole world. I read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight when it was first released and I haven’t read the other since. Maybe I’m wait for the all of them to come out before I have to wait a year for the next. But I read this just after Empire of Storms was released so I could truly reread it’s series in all it’s glory and I have to say that it really does give you a a whole new perspective of Celaena’s character, the place she came from, how she became the Adarlan’s Assassin, and seeing her fall in love with Sam Cortland. Out of all the stories, The Assassin and the Underworld is my favourite by a mile, shortly by the final story The Assassin and the Empire.

Rating – 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  1. I haven't heard of the first two (though I definitely need to check out DIMILY now!) but I'm glad you enjoyed Maas's novellas. I've heard they're fantastic but I'm not a huge fan of her debut series, much, but I'm really glad they worked for you! Wonderful mini-reviews, Emma!

  2. Really need to re-read the Throne of Glass series because I quite after the first. I want to give it another go just to see what I'd missed. Lol.

  3. Great mini reviews for all of these! I loved all the little novellas in the Throne of Glass series, they added so much to her background and life I thought.
